Who Are We?

In the triumphant spirit of Harriet Tubman, the Harriet Tubman Learning Center, Inc. (HTLC) was created to directly impact the deep-rooted and growing problem of illiteracy in US communities. At the root of this problem, is a gross lack of educational resources and funding in our communities.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we work alongside our board of directors, sponsors, volunteers, family support to further our mission:

1) To provide financial support for the development of educational opportunities to increase literacy

2) To provide a comprehensive foundation for enhancing academic achievement through individual assessments and evaluation

3) To implement proven initiatives centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math (STEAM) for the sustainable future academic success of our students

“Statistically, two thirds of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of fourth grade will more than likely drop out of school,”

- Janice Coletti
Author of Blueprint for a Literate Nation
